The Club for Geek Professionals
Named after the fathers of science fiction, Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, Verne & Wells in Kirkland, WA is a members-only club for geek professionals in the style of the old 18th century gentlemen’s club. The inspiration for Verne & Wells was a conversation between friends who lamented the lack of social venues dedicated to geek culture and professional geeks.
Game stores and some restaurants were starting to offer public spaces for geeky activities, but the quality of the company and locations were highly variable. What was needed was a special club that catered to geeks.
Verne & Wells fills a need for geek professionals by providing a friendly and tech-savvy atmosphere with numerous gaming amenities in which they can build their social and professional connections with peers who they might otherwise never meet. Its purpose is to create an upscale and comfortable social environment for members to engage in activities that relate to the club’s core themes: Science & Technology, Escapism and Play.
Social club focused on nerd culture. Great place to hang out for tabletop RPGs, board games, or even video games. They do holiday events, so if you don't have family nearby you can still do something special with others. Start with a tour and see how you feel about the place.
I'm really busy with my advertising studio and rarely have a chance to get out for anything, let alone meet new people. Since my main interests are RPGs, the hardest thing to do is find friendly, intelligent, and compatibly experienced, players who have open schedules. V&W is the kind of club that I used to have in college, where everyone is there for the same reason and has the same pressures away from the facility (and understands why I may have to answer my phone in the middle of a game). Peers are hard to come by – but V&W made it easy."
Great social club focused on geek and nerd culture. Video game and tv room, lots of events, relaxed atomsphere and some of the best rpg players around. Huge board collection to boot.
New to the area, I know very few people in the gaming community in Western WA. I found the club online and joined up. The people are great, the space is good, and there are plenty of events; overall very worth the price of membership.
